After spending an incredible 4 months living in Uluwatu and exploring the many stunning beaches on this side of Bali, Dreamland Beach quickly became one of our all-time favorites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was the go-to spot for my partner Tom, who couldn’t get enough of the epic surf breaks.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond just the surf, Dreamland Beach boasts a laid-back atmosphere, picturesque views, and some of the best sunsets you’ll ever see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of our series on the best beaches in Uluwatu, I’m going to share our personal experience on visiting Dreamland beach, as well as give you a few local tips to help you make the most out of your time in Dreamland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this complete travel guide, I will be sharing where to eat and stay, plus fun activities for both surfers and non-surfers alike.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where is Dreamland Beach?<\/gwmw><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dreamland Beach is a hidden gem nestled along the southern coast of Bali’s Bukit Peninsula, in the Uluwatu<\/strong><\/a> area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its specific location puts it right between the famous Padang Padang Beach to the south and the tranquil Balangan Beach to the north.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bingin Beach, another well-known surf spot, is just a short drive to the east.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Being part of the Uluwatu coastline, Dreamland Beach is surrounded by dramatic limestone cliffs that provide a stunning backdrop for beachgoers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The beach itself is accessible via a paved road leading down from the main road, Jalan Pantai Dreamland.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once you reach the parking area, a short walk down brings you to the pristine white sands and turquoise waters of Dreamland Beach. If you go in the middle of the day, expect to pay a minimal parking fee ($0.14) for a motorbike and a little bit more for a car.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do note that the parking lot area for motorbikes can get FULL! Parking a car here might be a problem so I suggest you take a motorbike or get dropped off.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accessibility of Dreamland Beach<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

It is important to point out that Dreamland Beach is one of the most accessible beaches in Uluwatu<\/strong><\/a> as you don\u2019t have tons of stairs to reach the beach, unlike the other beaches around it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Though the beach is somewhat secluded, it is still easily accessible from popular tourist hotspots such as Canggu, Seminyak, and Kuta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its proximity to these areas, as well as Ngurah Rai International Airport, makes it a convenient destination for day trips.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What I love about Dreamland is how long the beach is which gives you tons of coastline to walk along.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dreamland Beach’s location, surrounded by other popular beaches and surf breaks, makes it an ideal spot for beach hopping and exploring the beauty of Bali’s southern coastline.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n

How to Get to Dreamland Beach<\/gwmw><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dreamland Beach is approximately 1 hour away from Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS), depending on traffic. If you’re coming from Canggu, expect a drive of around 1.5 hours.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re already in Uluwatu, your best bet is to rent a scooter<\/strong><\/a>. This company will even deliver it straight to your hotel.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another option is to hire a taxi or a private driver for the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a great choice if you prefer a more comfortable and convenient mode of transportation.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rates can vary, but a full day with a private driver <\/strong><\/a>typically costs around $45. If you don\u2019t drive a motorbike, this is by far the most convenient option.<\/p>\n\n\n

Alternatively, you can also use ride-hailing apps like Bluebird, Grab or Gojek. Just be wary as technically some of these platforms aren\u2019t allowed in certain areas of Bali due to local politics.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In my experience, Bluebird is a lot more reliable than the aforementioned apps.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Best Time to Visit Pantai Dreamland<\/gwmw><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Essentially speaking, Bali has two main seasons: the dry season and the wet season.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each season offers its own unique experiences and advantages for visiting Dreamland Beach.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dry Season (April to September)<\/gwmw><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The dry season is generally considered the best time to visit Dreamland Beach, as you can expect sunny days and lower humidity levels.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This makes it the perfect time for sunbathing, swimming, and enjoying various beach activities.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The dry season is also when the surf conditions are most favorable, with consistent swells and offshore winds, making it an excellent time for experienced surfers.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later on this beach guide, I will go into detail on the type of waves to expect when surfing in Dreamland.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wet Season (October to March)<\/gwmw><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The wet season on the other hand, sees more rainfall, but it usually occurs in short, heavy bursts, often in the late afternoon or evening.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This leaves the majority of the day sunny and warm. The wet season has the advantage of fewer crowds, making it a great time to visit if you prefer a more peaceful and relaxing experience at Dreamland Beach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the surf conditions can be less predictable during this time, with onshore winds and choppy waters more common.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ultimately, when you visit Dreamland depends on what season you visit Bali for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Personally speaking, as someone who has lived in Bali during both seasons, the wet season isn\u2019t that bad and as mentioned, it rarely rains all day long.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Things to Do in Dreamland Beach, Uluwatu<\/gwmw><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dreamland Beach offers a variety of activities for visitors to enjoy, whether you’re a surfer, beach lover, or just looking to unwind. Here are some of the top things to do at Dreamland Beach:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sunbathing and Swimming<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The pristine white sands and turquoise waters of Dreamland Beach make it an ideal spot for sunbathing and swimming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Relax on the beach with a good book, soak up the sun, or take a dip in the refreshing water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just be mindful of the currents and waves, especially during the surf season. Personally speaking, Dreamland isn\u2019t the best for swimming but this is highly dependent on the tides.

When we were living there, the surf in Dreamland was always pumping which made swimming quite difficult.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you want to spend the day in Dreamland, they have beach umbrellas that you can rent for the day or for a couple of hours. Expect to pay around 200k IDR ($13) for a beach bed and an umbrella.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is one main restaurant, Dreamland Warung<\/strong><\/a> which serves food and drinks. The food is quite basic so we always just order a few drinks!<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their coconuts are always cold and so are their Bintangs so can\u2019t really complain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aside from swimming and sunbathing, one of my favorite things to do in Dreamland Beach is to go for a long walk.

Most people tend to stay in the area where the umbrellas are so if you\u2019re finding this spot a little bit too crowded, just walk along the beach and find yourself a quiet area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There\u2019s over a 100m stretch of powder white sand to walk along.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the most memorable experiences at Dreamland Beach is watching the sunsets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the sun dips below the horizon, the sky comes alive with breathtaking colors, creating a truly magical atmosphere. Find a comfortable spot on the sand or enjoy a cold drink at a nearby beach bar as you take in the spectacular view.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re looking to venture a little bit further, I can also recommend going to Balangan Viewpoint which has some of the best sunset views in my opinion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Balangan is a short drive away from Dreamland beach and is a popular spot amongst both locals and tourists.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n

Surfing at Dreamland Beach<\/gwmw><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As mentioned previously, Dreamland Beach is a popular surf spot in Uluwatu, attracting surfers from around the world due to its consistent waves and stunning location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re planning to catch a few waves while you\u2019re here, here’s what you need to know about surfing at Dreamland:<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wave Types and Conditions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Dreamland Beach offers a variety of waves, suitable for different skill levels. The surf break at Dreamland is a mix of both left and right-handers, with a sandy bottom that makes it great for beginner to intermediate surfers.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The waves are generally more forgiving than other nearby surf spots, such as Uluwatu, Bingin, or Padang Padang.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The waves are usually  fat and rolling but you can get the occasional set of waves that are pretty big. Before you go out, I recommend checking the forecast at Magicseaweed<\/strong><\/a> to see if it\u2019s within your skill level.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As mentioned, Dreamland was one of the places my partner Tom surfed almost on a daily basis. The waves here are very forgiving and is a great spot to improve your surfing skills.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n

Surfing Lessons in Dreamland<\/gwmw><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

There is one surf school (Dreamland Surf School)<\/strong> operating within the area, but other schools will often take their students to Dreamland, especially when the waves are good.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cost of surf lessons can vary depending on the school and the duration of the lesson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Generally, a group surf lesson (around 2-3 hours) can cost between IDR 400,000 ($27) while private lessons may range from IDR 600,000 ($40).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prices often include board rental and rash guard, but it’s always a good idea to confirm this with the surf school when booking.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you really want to level up, another option is to look at attending a Surf Camp in Bali. There are multiple camps that you can join, in various spots all over Bali.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where to Eat in Dreamland Beach<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Unlike other beaches like Bingin and Balangan which have restaurants located along the beach, there is only one local warung in Dreamland.

However, there are nearby restaurants within a couple minutes drive that I recommend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dream Corner<\/strong><\/a>– This little restaurant is a short walk away from Dreamland beach and is a great spot to grab a cheap and delicious meal. <\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Akasa Jumeirah Bali<\/strong><\/a>– If you\u2019re looking for something a little bit fancier, this restaurant is on the very end of Dreamland Beach and is a great spot for those looking for an upscale meal. This spot offers incredible views of the ocean and is a great spot for a romantic meal.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

El Kabron Beach Club<\/strong><\/a>– Located just a short drive away from Dreamland is El Kabron Beach Club which serves delicious Spanish food.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you want to get a beach bed and use their pool, they have a minimum spend which you can put towards food and drinks.

We love going to this beach club as their infinity pool offers stunning views of both Dreamland and Bingin Beach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The food is also very good! The only complaint is that the music can get pretty loud, depending on when you go, so expect a party-like atmosphere, especially during sunset.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n

Where to Stay in Uluwatu<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Although there are no hotels on Dreamland beach that I recommend, fortunately, everything in Uluwatu is a short drive away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most of the hotels on or near Dreamland are pretty old and aren\u2019t that well maintained so I would stay clear of those. Here are a few places that I personally recommend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They have a pool villa that is perfect for those who want a spacious retreat after spending the day exploring around Uluwatu.<\/p>\n\n\n

Other Beaches in Uluwatu<\/gwmw><\/gwmw><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Aside from Dreamland Beach, Uluwatu has a handful of other spots that I recommend you visit.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pantai Melasti<\/strong><\/gwmw><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Melasti Beach is known for its crystal-clear turquoise waters and dramatic limestone cliffs. This secluded beach is perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and capturing stunning photographs of the surrounding natural beauty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In my opinion, Melasti Beach in Uluwatu <\/a><\/strong>is one of the prettiest beaches in Bali, perfect for spending a day at the beach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bingin Beach<\/a><\/strong><\/gwmw><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Bingin Beach is a surfer’s paradise, with consistent waves and a laid-back atmosphere. The beach is lined with charming cafes and beach bars, making it a great spot to relax and watch the surfers in action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pantai Balangan<\/strong><\/gwmw><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Balangan Beach<\/a><\/strong> is a long stretch of golden sand with stunning cliffs. Popular among surfers, the beach here is surrounded by reefs, making it not so ideal for swimming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pandawa Beach<\/a><\/strong><\/gwmw><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Hidden behind towering limestone cliffs, Pandawa Beach boasts pristine white sands and clear blue waters. Known as the “Secret Beach,” it’s perfect for those looking to spend a day swimming.<\/gwmw><\/gwmw><\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n
