Delhi is easily accessible with both international and domestic flights. If you\u2019re already in India, don\u2019t miss out on this city as there are plenty of Mumbai to Delhi flights that are reasonably priced. Once in Delhi, hit the ground running, because there\u2019s so much to see and do. Keep reading to discover all that Delhi has to offer!<\/p>\n

Lotus Temple<\/h2>\n

Continue your sightseeing with the gorgeous Lotus Temple, whose white, angular pieces are almost reminiscent of the Sydney Opera House. This religious site opened to the public in 1986 and is nondenominational, meaning that all religions are welcome. The temple is surrounded by nine bright blue pools, while the inside is able to hold up to two thousand people at a time. This is a great place to explore, snap some photos, and reflect on the unity of the human race.<\/p>\n

Visit Qutub Minar<\/h2>\n

If you\u2019re sightseeing in Delhi, the Qutab Minar is a must see. Built in 1192, this 240-foot tall tower is a UNESCO World Heritage site made from marble and red sandstone. At the foot of the tower, you\u2019ll find the first mosque ever built in India surrounded by green courtyards and shady trees.<\/p>\n

Explore the Red Fort<\/h2>\n

Trade street food stalls for museum halls at the Red Fort, located in the center of the city just minutes from Chandni Chowk market. The Red Fort was home to emperors for nearly 200 years before being turned into a historic site with multiple museums and expansive grounds.<\/p>\n

Be sure to stop by the Delhi Gate to admire the three-story stone arch, named after the city and exquisitely crafted. The Red Fort is one of the most famous sites in India and one can spend hours exploring the twists and turns of the compound that used to house Mughals while enjoying original artifacts displayed at the museums.<\/p>\n

This Garden is actually a large public park filled with various monuments and historical tombs, in addition to grassy expanses, ponds, and a rose garden. Spend a peaceful afternoon strolling around, checking out the attractions and relaxing in an oasis outside of the big city chaos.<\/p>\n

Get Lost in Khari Baoli Market<\/h2>\n

Khari Baoli Road is home to the largest spice market in Asia. Spend an afternoon getting lost in the different smells, colors, and flavors of the local and exotic spices. Spot and try different foods, gather some dried fruits and nuts for later on and take in the marvelous sights.<\/p>\n

Shop Until You Drop in Paharganj<\/h2>\n

Spend an afternoon exploring the main bazaar area of Delhi. Here you can find shopping, low budget accommodation (backpackers, I\u2019m looking at you!), delicious food and easy access to the rest of the city. Located right next to the New Delhi Railway Station, you\u2019re sure to be able to get anywhere you want to go from Paharganj.<\/p>\n

There are tons of small restaurants tucked away serving up delicious Northern Indian food, so wander around for a while and discover all the Paharganj has to offer.<\/p>\n

Party Away in Connaught Place<\/h2>\n

If you\u2019re looking for somewhere to get your party on, this is the place. Connaught Place is filled with bar, clubs, restaurants, and music venues that are sure to result in a good night out. While nightlife isn\u2019t Delhi\u2019s specialty, you can always find something to do in this vibrant and exciting area.<\/p>\n

Pay Your Respects at Raj Ghat<\/h2>\n

Raj Ghat is home to a memorial for the \u201cFather of the Nation,\u201d Mahatma Gandhi. Stop by, pay your respects and take in the teachings of Gandhi which are narrated throughout the memorial in different mediums.<\/p>\n

The memorial is surrounded by luscious gardens and houses an eternal flame so that the spirit of Gandhi may live forever. This ground is considered holy and many other famous leaders have been laid to rest in surrounding memorials. This is a great place for history, reflection, and prayer.<\/p>\n

Wander Around Chandni Chowk Market<\/h2>\n

Chandni Chowk is located in the heart of Old Delhi and gives an intense glimpse into Indian life. The market is extremely crowded, filled with locals selling tantalizing spices, vibrant saris, and silver jewelry galore.<\/p>\n

Be sure to stop for a street food snack before heading to the nearby Red Fort for some more local culture. A note before you go – Chandni Chowk is extremely busy and bustling. Be sure to keep your wits about you and your valuables secured. \"fruit<\/p>\n

Old Fort (Purana Qila)<\/h2>\n

Take a visit to one of the oldest forts in Delhi, which was commissioned by the Mughal emperor Humayun and built in the 16th century. It\u2019s an interesting place to learn about the history of the place while exploring age-old architecture. The fort sits on the banks of a lake, which offers scenic views of lush green trees and glimpses of wildlife.<\/p>\n
