Luang Prabang is one of my favorite little towns in Southeast Asia. Between its awesome waterfalls (some of the best in SEA in my opinion), fantastic cheap street food, and quirky cafes this little town is a must-visit for travelers cruising Laos.<\/p>\n

I remember so vividly waking up early to witness the monks walk through the city, collecting their alms in their orange-colored robes all while the sun was gently rising above the town.<\/p>\n

So whether you are heading to Luang Prabang to relax in its awesome chilled out vibe or to take in all the sightseeing, here’s a list of our personal recommendations of the best places to stay in Luang Prabang!<\/p>\n

Located just two minutes away from the Night Market, Downtown Backpackers Hostel is a great option for budget backpackers.<\/p>\n

The hotel is still quite new so everything is fresh and clean. It doesn’t have the whole rundown feel that most hostels in Asia have. You can choose from dorm rooms ranging from ten to four beds — we’d suggest springing an extra dollar for a four-bed room! Only only after the rooms modern, clean, and comfy, you even get a privacy curtain and a personal reading light.<\/p>\n

Apart from the ideal location, the price is pretty unbelievable as it also comes with free breakfast. Definitely a great place to stay in Luang Prabang.<\/p>\n

Set in a large house, Smile LuangPrabang Hostel is another great budget pick in Luang Prabang.<\/p>\n

Their all-white dorm rooms are clean, new, and modern so you’ll be sure to have a comfy stay here. With a range of dorms from 10 beds to four beds (and even a female-only dorm!), you can pick the level of privacy you desire. Plus, the rooms here are air-conditioned!<\/p>\n

When you’re not in your room, chill out and meet other travelers at the outdoor terrace or the shared lounge. You can also help yourself to free tea and coffee.<\/p>\n

For some sightseeing action, you’ll be glad to know that attractions like the National Museum, Night Market, and Wat Xieng Thong aren’t too far away.<\/p>\n

Little Freedom Friendlys Place offers dorm room beds as well as private rooms for a really great price. While the rooms are simple, they’re comfortable and clean, with wooden furniture. What’s more, your stay comes with an American breakfast!<\/p>\n

Aside from the warm and friendly service from the staff, the key selling point for this hostel is probably the pool. Little Freedom Friendlys Place definitely offers great value for money for any traveler headed to the area.<\/p>\n

Although located in the main area of Luang Prabang, Sanctuary Hotel is true to its name — amidst the hustle and bustle, this hotel is indeed a sanctuary.<\/p>\n

The rooms here are well-designed and spacious. They’re full of beautiful little details which make the place very homey and comfortable.<\/p>\n

Plus, the hotel grounds are really lovely! They has a large zen-like garden where they also have an outdoor cinema area which they set up occasionally. To beat the heat, jump into the pool or simply take in the rays on the loungers lining the pool. The pleasant and helpful staff will cap off your stay here.<\/p>\n

When you’re ready to explore the town, you can simply walk to points of interest such as Dara Market, the Ethnic Museum, and the Night Market.<\/p>\n

Ock Pop Tok is located about 10 minutes away from town and is a great place for those who don’t really want to stay in the main town itself. The hotel provides a free tuk-tuk to the town center during the day which is a nice touch.<\/p>\n

The rooms here are so well decorated, conveying a rustic charm that will delight you. Some rooms even offer a river view — imagine chilling on your private balcony while you take in the view!<\/p>\n

Apart from their great service, they also offer some art courses and movie nights which adds to the whole vibe of the hotel. Their tropical gardens and treehouse are unique, relaxing spots to hang out during a balmy evening.<\/p>\n

Satri Hotel features two outdoor pools set amidst a beautiful garden. The rooms are beautiful, luxurious, and comfortable. The four-poster beds in their rooms are simply dreamy! If you need an extra dose of relaxation, head to their on-site spa for some body retreatments.<\/p>\n

Plus, the warm and thoughtful service from the staff will leave a lasting impression on you.<\/p>\n

Although located a bit far from the center, it’s not a problem; the action is just a walk away and the hotel provides free bikes for guest use.<\/p>\n

As you might’ve guessed from its name, Mekong Riverview Hotel boasts of stunning views of the Mekong River which you can enjoy while you have breakfast out in their deck.<\/p>\n

This hotel is located at the edge of the Old Town and will offer you lots of local atmosphere. The rooms here are a charming mix of local influences and modern furniture. Comfort is definitely their priority though; all rooms are equipped with Swedish remote control beds which you can use to adjust the height and incline. Fancy!<\/p>\n

There’s a pool and spa attached to the hotel that’s located across the river (whaaaaat!) — but no worries, the hotel provides a shuttle that will get you there! They also offer a free shuttle to town. Apart from that, the service of the staff here is really top-notch and will add an extra touch to your stay.<\/p>\n

If you can, go for one of the rooms with either a garden or pool view. You’ll be able to relax on your private balcony at the end of a long day of sightseeing — how perfect!<\/p>\n
