Although Burmese food lacks the pizzazz of Thai and Indian food, I have been pleasantly surprised and, personally, I prefer it to Thai food. I think the condiments served alongside the dish complete the flavor profile, so I would take advantage of any condiments served with a Burmese dish. Oh, and Burmese curries aren’t supposed to be watery but oily. The Burmese call their curries “sipyan” which means “the oil returns” because of the significant amount of oil used in curry recipes. Hopefully someday I will be able to visit Myanmar.
