This involved driving a motorised took-tuk from the top of India to the bottom, to raise money for charity. It’s without doubt, the most amazing thing I’ve ever done. To be able to see a country, and a country as insanely beautiful as India, in this way was truly unforgettable. When you get out there, you visit people and places you would never otherwise encounter. You also get to visiting towns that have never had Western visitors and they are so happy to see you and so welcoming too. It was also the most terrifying thing I’ve ever done, driving a tiny little tin can 4000 km on some of the world’s most dangerous roads really takes you out of your comfort zone! I bought a TukTuk back in India in 2007, before the TukTuk run had started, to buy the TukTuk itself was not expensive at all, was about 150usd, for a old one, but the expensice thing was to get the license plate to be allowed to drive all over the country

Got it. Yes, everything is possible in India. In our 5000+ km cycling trip across India we saw it very clearly. But “getting a tuk tuk” thing seems to be harder, as I have read. Not getting itself as using it later for extended period of time. They say police don’t really like it.

Well we’re not actually buying the tuk tuk, it’s a pre arranged and organised event, we’ll just be riding it for a few weeks. In answer to your question though, in India, anything is possible, as long as you have money and give it to the right people!

Price? Police is ok with it? White guy going with his own tuktuk 🙂
